SILICON DREAMS: PAKISTAN’S BOLD BID TO BUILD A SEMICONDUCTOR FUTURE BY 2035

Pakistan is stepping into the global technology race with a vision that could redefine its economic and strategic destiny. The government’s latest initiative to cultivate a domestic semiconductor industry by 2035 is more than just a policy move. It is a declaration that Pakistan intends to transform from a consumer of technology into a creator of it. At the heart of this national endeavor lies a powerful idea: build human capital before hardware. The first milestone training 7,200 specialists in semiconductor design and research marks the beginning of a long-term transformation aimed at positioning Pakistan as a credible player in the trillion-dollar global chip market. “This is not just about creating jobs,” says Federal Minister for Information Technology Shaza Fatima Khawaja. “It’s about building the intellectual infrastructure for innovation, national security, and resilience in an increasingly digital world.”
