PAKISTAN’S DIGITAL SURGE AMID GLOBAL COST CHALLENGES

In recent years, Pakistan has been undergoing a remarkable technological transformation that is redefining its economic landscape and significantly enhancing the quality of life for its citizens. The country is experiencing a digital revolution characterized by rapid advancements in technology, including the adoption of digital payment systems, the rapid growth of e-commerce platforms, and the proliferation of innovative mobile applications across various sectors. These developments have been driven by increasing internet penetration, the widespread availability of affordable smartphones, and substantial improvements in telecommunications infrastructure. According to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), over 125 million Pakistanis now have access to broadband services, demonstrating a growing dependence on digital tools for education, employment, and entertainment. The government’s "Digital Pakistan" initiative has been a catalyst for this progress, aiming to digitize public services, increase IT exports, and promote a culture of digital entrepreneurship. Additionally, the rise of tech startups, including those in fintech, health tech, and edtech—such as Daraz, Bykea, and SadaPay—underscores the transformative potential of technology in addressing critical societal challenges and unlocking economic opportunities.
